Myofascial Release (MFR) Massage:

Myofascial Release techniques include skin rolling, stretching and unwinding. They are all done without oils and can be incorporated into a holistic massage, or can be done standalone. It is good if you have a specific problem that you want dealt with such as stubborn pains which are not reacting effectively to other massage. Also beneficial for stretching areas of scar tissue (post 3 months).

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds our muscles and organs.  It is a 3-dimensional structure that runs through our body holding all our muscles and fibres together.  Pain and injury cause us to tense up and as a result the fascia tightens and constricts.  If this constriction is not released, the fascia will remain tight, causing discomfort or pain and may ultimately affect our health by blocking the flow of blood, nutrients and waste throughout our bodies.

Due to the 3D effect of fascia, by releasing fascia in just one part of the body you may benefit by feeling a release in a completely different area. Sometimes you feel a stretch or even a nippy feeling, as the fascia releases. MFR is indicated as possible aid to help Carpal Tunnel pain, Chronic neck pain, Scar tissue, Pain from old injuries and traumas, Headaches, Fibromyalgia, Vertigo and Anxiety.

Is it suitable for everyone?

There are some conditions where it is best to avoid all massage. These include major heart problems, serious circulatory problems like thrombosis, skin cancer/cancer sites and infectious disease.

For MFR the local area of any implant, recent surgery or steroid injection should be avoided.
